About the workshop

The UN Global Compact Network Denmark and Danish Industry, with support from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are pleased to invite you to a workshop on Responsible Contracting, in collaboration with the Responsible Contracting Project (RCP), which contributed to a chapter of the UNGC Decent Work Toolkit for Sustainable Procurement.

This workshop aims to enhance understanding and implementation of Responsible Contracting practices to improve human rights and environmental (HRE) outcomes in global supply chains.

The workshop will explain how to integrate human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) into commercial contracts in alignment with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, noting that moving toward due diligence-aligned contracts could help companies meet certain legal requirements in current and upcoming EU regulation.

  • Understand how contracts are foundational tools for upholding human rights and environmental (HRE) standards across the supply chain and why traditional, risk-shifting contracts are not fit for purpose

  • Learn how Responsible Contracts that operationalize shared-responsibility principles are more effective for managing HRE risks and achieving sustainable outcomes

  • Learn how to assess your contracts’ alignment with widely accepted responsible business conduct standards and mandatory HREDD requirements

  • Obtain actionable insights for immediate implementation within your organization

  • The primary objective is to equip business participants with practical guidance and tools to achieve more sustainable outcomes for people and planet.
